My Full Story
South African-born to Canadian-living, my story in chronological order
Welcome! This is a glimpse into my life of movement - chasing wild places, seasonal work, and off-the-map experiences. What started as a two-year move to Canada quickly turned into a full-blown travel bug and deep love for outdoor adventure. It paved the way for a life of guiding, photography and paramedicine. This timeline captures that journey - the mud, the mountains, and all the wild and wonderful moments in between!
2025 (Aug) - 2025 (April)
Winter in Japan
After a decade of dreaming about it, I finally made the dream a reality - a winter season in Hokkaido, Japan! Waist deep powder and more ramen bowls than I can count. Post-season, I traveled south, from the mountains to the tropical beaches of Okinawa.

2024 (June -August)
Roadtrip to Alaska
10 weeks and 10,000 kms of remote roads! The journey began in Revelstoke, snaked up to the Kenai Peninsula, then further north to Fairbanks, and finally looping all the way back again. Car camping chaos, and some of the most incredible landscapes ever seen.

2024 (February - May)
Southern Mexico
I worked as an Expedition Medic and Guide deep in the remote corners of Chiapas, leading 12-day trips packrafting, caving, and rapelling. From 7 days navigating canyon rapids to building stoves for local comminuties, it was an action packed season.

2023 (November)
Northern Mexico
A spontanious 10-day packrafting expedition near Chihuaua to scout river conditions in a new desert canyon! Kicked off with a rough 4x4 trail to reach the put-in, nearly 100kms of paddling through remote desert landscapes, and a hike out after 10 days on the river!

2023 (August - September)
European Summer
It started as a trip to a cousins wedding in Biarritz, France, and turned into surf camps in Spain with bottomless sangria, bike routes along the portuguese coast, winery hopping in France, and rugby, oh so much rugby.

2023 (May)
Circumnavigating Iceland
We circumnavigated the land of fire and ice in a very small jeep with a rooftop tent and very high winds. 13 days of rain, sun, snow, hail, and every form of weather in between. They weren't kidding about the wind over there!

2022 (November)
Moved to Revelstoke
After years of seasonal work and the constant itch to move, I got Revel-stuck! It was the first place that truly felt like home, surrounded by mountains and endess backyard adventures. It also marked the beginning of my work with BC Ambulance!

2022 (September - October)
Galivanting in Peru
A 5-week trip, 4 weeks in a tent, and 1 in hostels! I solo-trekked the 10-day Cordillera Huayhuash route, hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and completed the Ausungate Trek! My first time navigating high altitide trekking.

2022 (April - July)
Central America
This incredible 4-month trip began in Cancun, Mexico, and took me through Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama! Highs included summiting Acatanango, surfing El Transito, and swimming with stingrays in Belize!

2021 (Nov) - 2022 (April)
Switzerland? Nope.
This was the season I was supposed to move to Switzerland, but COVID had other plans. Instead, I landed in Sun Peaks as a Ski Patroller - a welcomed change of pace after 7 years of ski instructing. It was here that I first discovered my love for first aid!

2021 (June - October)
Watersports Era
Returned to North Vancouver for the summer to work in Deep Cove as a water sports instructor and boat driver! A summer spent chasing swimming holes, alpine summits, and waterfalls in the Sea to Sky corridor

2021 (May - June)
BC Backroads
Map nerd meets the backroads. Armed with my topographic map book and too much curiosity, I set off to solo explore 100km-long logging roads connecting BC towns that no one knows about. A blissful 2 months of car camping all throughout the BC backcountry.

2020 (July) - 2021 (May)
Sea To Sky Corridor
I moved to Squamish in July and spent the summer working as an au pair. Adventure fuelled days powered by snack boxes. In September I moved to North Vancouver to work the winter season on Grouse Mountain, still in my ski instructor chapter!

2020 (March - July)
Covid off Grid
That time I spent 7 weeks camping off-grid on Vancouver Island.. When COVID hit, six of us loaded up 2 cars of food and took off into the wild, cooking on the open fire and living in our tents! After the 7 weeks off-grid, we moved up to Mt Washington for the summer.

2019 (June - September)
South East Asia
Spent 4 months backpacking through Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Singapore, and Indonesia! Half with my brother, half solo. Highs included renting motorbikes for 10 days in North Vietnam, a 5-day sailing trip to Komodo, and river-tubing bar-hopping in Laos!

2017 (Sept) - 2019 (Jan)
Back to School
Returned to Canada to study Outdoor Recreation Management. This is where my passion for the outdoors really took off! We completed a series of guiding courses which meant multi-day trips in kayaking, hiking and skiing! Snow caves are cold man..

2016 (July) - 2017 (May)
Australia Bound
Fresh out of high school, I packed my bag and took off down to Australia! I backpacked from Cairns to Melbourne, visiting family, friends, and every beach along the way. From there, I hopped down to New Zealand to roadtrip the south island.

2015 (November)
My First Snow Job
My family was ski obsessed, spending most days after school on the mountain. Though I hadnt even seen snow until we moved to Canada in 2010, I got my first mountain job teaching kids to pizza and french-fry! The beginning of my work in the ski industry!

2010 (November)
The Big Move
My family moved from South Africa to Canada "on a 2-year plan" before heading back. Spolier Alert: It became an auto-renewing 2-year plan because none of us wanted to leave the mountains or snow behind!

1998 (November)
And So It Begins
Born at a very young age, I joined the world as a bucket-hat-wearing South African bundle of energy. With one younger brother and two adventure loving parents, our family of 4 was outdoor chaos! The rule was "the muddier you are, the more fun you had".
